Europe With Driven Shooting
.
Introduction
Driven Shooting provides outstanding sport off the beaten path. For those used to shooting at the very top shoots of England, one will not find, with a couple of exceptions, these pheasants to be as tall. However, there is old world charm, cosy chateaux in Slovakia, deluxe chateaux in Hungary and outstanding accommodation in the beautiful ancient city of Prague to add to the experience.
The Cost
The cost of shooting is less on a per bird basis than in the British Isles. Most of the shooting in Eastern Europe is for large bags with a minimum of 50 to 100 birds per man per day depending on the shoot.
Hungary
In general, I would rate highly the birds in the North-eastern region of Hungary where one stays at Castles Bercel and Szirak which provide very good accommodation and Eagle Castle, just added to our exclusive properties in that country, as a super deluxe manor house, with an indoor swimming pool, gymnasium, equestrian center, et cetera.
Czech Republic
We represent a number of shoots in the Czech Republic.
Slovakia
Chateau Vozokany in Slovakia is our least expensive shoot. The birds are medium height at best, but if one lets the low birds go by, there are still plenty of modestly challenging birds. They will also accept lines as small as four. This is not a shoot for great shooters who demand very difficult, challenging pheasants. It is, however, a wonderful introduction to driven shooting for those new to the game, desiring plenty of action without breaking the bank.
