Big Game
Nowhere on the planet is the big game hunting as diverse as it is in
Africa. Dangerous game including elephant, Cape buffalo, lion and leopard are still available to serious trophy hunters. In the early 1980's at the peak of his personal safari career, Alex Brant wrote definitive articles on African hunting, country by country and by species for SPORTS AFIELD (Feb 83) and SPORTING CLASSICS (Nov 84), for the adventurous hunter heading to that continent. While he hunted most of the countries from the Sudan and Ethiopia south, we currently send our clients with the best operators in six countries.

Tanzania
Tanzania has always been one of the best countries to hunt in Africa. Depending on the area chosen all of the “Big 4” are available plus lesser kudu and greater kudu, oryx, East African sable, sitatunga and roan. Each area has its own strengths and weaknesses with some areas provide excellent hunting but only if the client is willing to accept the reality of a significant number of tse-tse flies. Other areas are virtually tse-tse fly free. We book many of the best operators, indeed legendary professional hunters including Danny McCallum, Robin Hurt, Luke Samaras and a couple more. Most of the companies and hunters have operated here for 20 years.

Zambia
Zambia is another top choice and at the minute many big elephant, by today's standards, are being taken. Safaris in Zambia offer many species not easily or even possible to hunt elsewhere including in Kafue and Black Lechwe. It is an excellent choice for a general bag and has always produced the biggest sable in Africa. Very good buff, lion and leopard are also available.

Botswana
It is an excellent choice and one of the most stable of all the African countries. It is an excellent choice for sitatunga, general game bag, elephant, buffalo, lion, leopard, kudu and gemsbok.

Mozambique
It is an interesting country to hunt at the minute. Some areas are really like hunting the Selous but less expensive than hunting in
Tanzania and some concessions provide hunting in extremely wild land which is not for the feeble or the faint hearted. The big four are available plus sable, nyala, eland and greater kudu.

Zimbabwe
Excellent elephant hunting is available especially in the Matetsi area which also produces good sable. Very reasonably priced leopard and buffalo safaris are perhaps this countries strongest suit. The political situation is a disgrace but some good hunting opportunities do exist
.

South Africa
South Africa offers an excellent venue especially for first time hunters in Africa or those in search of specific species, common to the area. These are primarily ranch style hunts with good lodge accommodation. Greater kudu, gemsbok, nyala and other plains game are the primary species but dangerous game safaris are also possible.
