Konopiste is known as perhaps the best shoot in Eastern Europe for tall birds. One stays in Prague and there is about a 40 minute drive each day to the shoot. Their normal bag is 600 birds per day.
The operator that we use in Hungary and Slovakia owns or controls all of the estates in those countries on an exclusive basis. We also work with him as an intermediary for “CHATEAU ZIDLOCHOVICE”. He is slightly more expensive than other agents but he provides the best organization in Eastern Europe. He is 100% reliable. His buses and limousines are first class. The cocktail hour, which is organized for each night, includes first quality caviar, smoked salmon et cetera. One does pay a little bit more for his involvement but it means flawless service from airport arrival, help with gun clearance, et cetera.
“CHATEAU ZIDLOCHOVICE” is a fabulous estate where a world of birds will be put over the line of guns. By being selective, one can kill a serious number of challenging, and sporting birds. The extremely large bags that are often shot here appeal to teams who are interested in quantity. “CHATEAU ZIDLOCHOVICE” can provide both quality and quantity, although few drives and birds are as tall as Konopiste. For the last 20 years, our partner has been shooting the government estate of ZIDLOCHOVICE, which offers high volume shooting with daily bags over 1000 birds. ZIDLOCHOVICE, THE HABSBURG CHATEAU, is a magnificent castle in the old monarchical style and shoots are offered for minimum 8 guns in line.
Lany, the third shoot that we represent offers moderate quality birds at reasonable prices. (This is not a shoot for tall bird enthusiasts.) Another advantage of Lany is that one can stay in the beautiful town of Prague and just have a short drive each day to the shoot. In early November, the bag is normally 600-1000 pheasant. Bags of 500 birds can be booked later in the month. It is possible with early bookings to have two days at Konopiste and two days at Lany.
