Sample Itinerary, Photographic Safari:

Day 1: Arrive at airport and taken to the Serena hotel where you stay at my expense (bed & breakfast) and recover from your journey. Day at leisure. On this day the truck, staff and camp leave Nairobi for Shaba/Samburu and set up camp in readiness for your arrival the following day.

Day 2: After breakfast we drive up north around Mount Kenya and down into the dry, desert-type country into Shaba/Samburu Game Reserve where we will join our camp at some time in the afternoon. Evening game drive. Overnight your own private tented camp.

Day 3 & 4: Morning and evening game drives within the Game Reserve to see the northern desert game peculiar to this area - oryx, gerenuk, lesser kudu, grevy zebra, reticulated giraffe etc, as well as elephant and possibly lion, leopard or cheetah. Overnight your own private tented camp.

Day 5: Morning drive back up to the southern slopes of Mount Kenya in time for lunch at Mountain Lodge. This is set in a forest glade overlooking a natural salt lick, artificially lit up after dark, on which you should see some of the reclusive forest animals - bushbuck, giant forest-hog, Colobus & Sykes monkey and possibly black rhino, elephant and leopard. On this day camp is packed up and moved ahead to Lake Nakuru whilst we overnight at Mountain Lodge. Overnight Mountain Lodge.

Day 6: Early breakfast and drive around the Aberdares Mountain Range and down into the Great Rift Valley to Lake Nakuru where we rejoin camp for a late lunch. Evening game drive. Overnight your own private tented camp.

Day 7 & 8: Morning and evening game drives within Lake Nakuru Park - famous for its birdlife (flamingos in particular), it is also one of the best places to see leopard and rhino, both black and white rhino. There is a tremendous number of Cape buffalo and other game in this gem of a park. Overnight your own private tented camp.

Day 9: After breakfast charter up to Rusinga Island on Lake Victoria whilst camp is packed up prior to a 2 day move down to Masai Mara. Lake Victoria, source of the Nile, is both spectacular and beautiful. We can fish for Giant Nile Perch, which can reach sizes up to and exceeding 200lbs, and explore the island and coves by boat visiting traditional native fishing villages and admiring the birdlife. Overnight Rusinga Island Lodge.

Day 10: Lake Victoria. Overnight Rusinga Island Lodge.

Day 11: After leisurely breakfast fly by charter south to the Masai Mara Game Reserve to rejoin camp. Afternoon game drives. Overnight your own private tented camp.

Day 12/13/14: Morning and evening game drives over the vast plains of the Mara famed for its varied plains game as well as lion and cheetah. Whilst in the Mara, as an optional extra, you can do an early morning balloon ride just as the sun rises followed by a champagne breakfast amongst the wildlife wherever you land. Overnight your own private tented camp.

Day 15: After breakfast the staff pack up camp in readiness for the long drive back to Nairobi. You will fly back by charter to Nairobi where day rooms will have been booked for you so that you may shower, change and rest before catching your evening flight out of Jomo Kenyatta Airport, Nairobi.

End of Safari.

For anyone wishing to do a Tanzania extension, you would fly on in your charter on this last Kenya day, to Tanzania and continue the adventure there.
